Olexandra Schur «chewing experience»

Oleksandra Shchur is a Kharkiv stained glass artist. She studies at the Kharkiv Academy of Culture. Olexandra has been engaged in glass art for almost two years, and for about half of this time, she created stained glass windows based on sketches by Roman Minin. She is currently working on her own sketches. In her works, she strives to be sharp and sincere.

“Chewing Experience” is a project dedicated to the artist’s self-reflection and her understanding of artistic work and the artistic environment. In the 127 garage, spectators find themselves inside metaphorical interiors, where there is constant chewing of ideas, thoughts, and emotions.

“The “chewing experience” project for me becomes an important checkpoint, which summarizes the path taken since my acquaintance with contemporary Ukrainian art. This exhibition is, in a way, a documentation of my state over the last two years – the state of constant analysis of my own actions, words, dynamics of new achievements, assessment of prospects, endless anticipation, planning, and re-planning. All this experiential process, inherent in everyone, is most vivid in its manifestation in the period of adulthood, when a person tends to digest himself, again and again, rejecting the superfluous. However, at its core, it is destructive, and therefore becomes painful, and thus reminds me of the mythical story of a Viking who finds himself in the dragon’s belly and wins by killing him from within. Only here you are both a Viking and a dragon”.
