Bird-Emigrant

Inspired by the music album “Ptaha Emigrant” by BusiCama band. The series combines film photography and linocut techniques.

After the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, a lot of Ukrainians had to leave their homes, moving inside the country or abroad. In “Bird-Emigrant” Jura Golik captured the dual state of mind, where black and white photography documents the real world, and new and temporary homes of displaced Ukrainians. The linocut lair creates the metaphorical dimension, where the artist draws parallels between emigrants and birds, who leave their nests when winter comes, but always find their way back home.
